What is woodworm?

Woodworm is a term used for the larvae of various wood-boring beetle species that feed on and tunnel through timber, often leading to serious structural and cosmetic damage. These pests are not worms at all, but beetle grubs that hatch from eggs laid on wooden surfaces, burrowing into the wood as they grow. Their presence is typically revealed by small, round exit holes and fine, powdery dust called frass, a by-product of their feeding below the surface.

The adult beetles emerge from the timber through these exit holes, mate, and repeat the cycle, sometimes for several generations if left untreated. Woodworm infestations are especially common in damp or poorly ventilated environments, making early detection and professional treatment essential to protect and preserve your home or business premises.

Woodworm - Finding a solution

Our professional woodworm treatment service begins with a thorough survey to assess the extent of the problem and identify the type of beetle involved. Treatment typically involves applying a water-based insecticidal spray or gel, directly onto and into the affected timber, targeting active larvae and preventing further infestation. For deeper infestations, injection treatments may be necessary. After treatment, we can also repair or replace damaged wood to restore the strength and appearance of your property. Our services come with guarantees for your peace of mind.
